Finding the Right Homes for Retired Hounds in the Delaware, Maryland, D.C., Virginia Area ...and Beyond!
Volunteer With Us!

Volunteers are what non-profits are all about! Without the selfless contributions of our volunteers every day, GEGR would not exist. It's also our volunteers who give us our personality (and you know we have some volunteers with some personality...). The best part is, you don't have to own a greyhound to help out! Take a look at this partial list of ways to help and Contact Us if any of these items interest you, or if you have some ideas we haven't thought of!

  • Foster Greyhounds
Without a kennel, we have to rely on foster homes to house our greyhounds while we find them homes. Take a look at our Foster Application if you are interested in welcoming a temporary grey into your home.

  • Attend Meet and Greets
We do Meet and Greets everywhere, all the time. Come help us teach people about greyhounds and introduce them to this incredible breed. Check out our Events page for a location near you.

  • Coordinate Fundraisers
Have an idea for a fundraiser? Share it with us!

  • Manage the eBay Store
We are in need of a coordinator to ship products to purchasers from our new eBay store.

  • Help With our Website
We update our website two or three times a week with new dogs, new events, and new adopters. We also like to add new information as it becomes available and update old information if it becomes obsolete. If you would like to own a corner of the website and help us keep it up to date, we'd love your help.

  • Pick Up Dogs From the Track Hauler
Our dogs come in from the track to Baltimore at 4:30am Sunday mornings, and we are always looking for new people who'd like to help pick them up and bring them to our intake facility in Lusby, MD. Join one of our seasoned volunteers and share the magic as the greyhounds start learning about retired life!

  • Drive Fosters
Sometimes our foster homes can't get a dog to an event, or we need to move a dog from one foster home to another. Because our adoption area is so large, we always need help moving dogs from one area to another. Think about us the next time you are taking a trip!

  • Assist Our Editor
We can always use help editing new web pages, our monthly newsletter, or new flyers about events. Let us know if you can help.

  • Write Grants
There are thousands of grants out there that we qualify for that will help the greyhounds. Each and every one requires a different type of write-up and some tracking of funds. If you have experience writing grants, we can get the information required together for you.

  • Be an Adoption Buddy
Have a greyhound of your own? Sign up to be a buddy! We'll train you and then assign you to a new adopter so you can help them through the transition period.

  • Help Groom the New Dogs
When we bring the dogs down from the track, we bathe them, clip their nails, scale their teeth, take their pictures and give them some love. Want to help? Let us know!

Greyhounds aren't just dogs, they are a way of life!
